Every day is Father’s Day, thanks to friends like you! One of the biggest misconceptions about Choices Women’s Clinic is that it is a ministry to women. As we close out this month, I am reminded of how much your investment supports dads who lead families.
It is not uncommon for our waiting room to be filled with dads. Sometimes these men are nervous, fidgety, or angry. Sometimes, they do not want the child to be aborted, and sometimes, they demand it. But most often, they are complacent and fall for the abortion industry’s lie: “Her body, her choice.”
“Drew and Marie” had recently married and didn’t believe they had the resources to have a baby. As married college students pursuing career goals, they were in a place they never thought they would be. Drew was supportive of his wife, but he believed that support meant agreeing with the decision that felt right for her at the time.
Marie found CHOICES when looking for an abortion clinic and asked her husband to come to the appointment with her. Together, they were empowered, and Drew felt he was no longer a passive participant in his wife’s decision. Not only did Drew and Marie receive the encouragement they needed, but they also took the next step and joined one of our parenting classes. They have agreed to continue growing as parents by being connected to a local church that will walk alongside them. I asked Drew if he could share how you, as a CHOICES partner, have impacted his life, and here is what he had to say:
“When my wife and I found out we were having a baby, we were both in shock and didn’t know what to do. You encouraged us to join the parenting class, where we met weekly with other couples and mentors who are already parents and have experience raising children. This allowed us to be a part of a community where we receive advice and feel supported by one another in this new chapter in our lives. On top of being included in a supportive community, we were given a crib, stroller, baby clothes, diapers, parenting books, etc. You have been such a blessing for us in so many ways. We are forever grateful”. Our men’s ministry is more than just an add-on to our services. It is fundamental. I hope you see how every day is Father’s Day at CHOICES as we give fathers their voice and help them speak up and step up to the plate for the sake of their families. I am so thankful for friends like you who make this life-saving ministry possible as you raise up and equip young men for fatherhood! Thank you, and keep celebrating Father’s Day!
