You and I know CHOICES is here for those who want to explore their options! However, in today’s culture, options are rarely considered when abortion is so accessible and acceptable. I often say, ‘They are not looking for options; they are looking for abortions.’ And that, my friend, is where you step in. “Tonya” walked in, nervous and visibly shaking. Her husband, “Mark,” wanted to have the baby, although it was unexpected, and they had their hands full raising two teenagers. Despite a complicated health issue and recent damage to their home from Hurricane Milton, Mark declared his support for his wife in whatever decision she made.
Tonya said they don’t go to church, but they have morals and values based on their belief in Christ, stating, “That’s the reason this [abortion] is hard.” Her advocate shared the Gospel and encouraged them to pray and ask the Lord to speak into their decision of fear versus faith. Mark cried and shared about someone he knows and the witness of their faith during a hard time. They left that day undecided, hugging their new CHOICES friends, with ultrasound pictures of their baby in hand.
The next day, Tonya and Mark showed up at Planned Parenthood to abort their baby. Florida’s current law requires an ultrasound to determine if they were under 6 weeks. As they were waiting to go back, Tonya was surprised at how “nonchalant everyone was,” unlike herself and her husband, who felt devastated. At that moment, they decided they couldn’t go through with the abortion and left. That afternoon, they returned to CHOICES for another ultrasound, and together we celebrated a decision they will never regret!
