You gave this mother a listening ear and the choice for LIFE

As a women’s clinic, our priority is the patient who is looking to have an abortion, the woman who is determined to terminate the life hidden and growing inside of her. But often, that patient is searching to see if anyone will help her.

Keely came to CHOICES to confirm her pregnancy and to receive abortion information. At that time, her relationship with the baby’s father was volatile. She planned to be a mother in the future, just not now. When we met Keely, she was just under five weeks pregnant, and she openly shared with us about her unreliable boyfriend, her generous grandparents, and her mom, who cautioned her about the trauma that an abortion would yield.

Although a woman in an unplanned pregnancy is the CHOICES patient, the network of support surrounding her will not only influence her choice but also be affected by her choice. Keely’s nurse reminded her of the support team she already had and noted that she “was composed and mature, but tearful.”

Prompted by the Holy Spirit, her nurse asked Keely if she would like to see some other young women who had been in her shoes and decided to have their babies. It was a very rare but beautiful moment. Our professional medical team at CHOICES is careful not to manipulate patients emotionally. The gallery of photos of patients and their babies is not hanging in clinic areas. Our medical staff is here to educate and empower patients with the truth. Keely was curious and said she did want to see the pictures. Keely wept in disbelief and said, “They’re so beautiful,” when she saw the photos on the wall in our community room.

The CHOICES staff is here to listen as patients share about their relationships behind the scenes. Who is offering them support? How will LIFE look? But each appointment is unique. Keely shared about the opposing voices she was hearing. Her friends assured her that a baby would “ruin her life.” At home, though, her parents and grandparents offered love and encouragement. Weeks later, Keely returned with her mom, who was thrilled to see her grandchild during the ultrasound.

With your help, Keely chose LIFE! Today, Greylen is one well-loved little man. Keely was thrilled to attend our Legacy Parenting Development Course, where she was empowered for parenthood. She recently came by with her mom to shop in our baby boutique with the points she earned in class. They talked about the gallery of photos on the wall and how excited they were for Keely to join this group of brave moms.We celebrate the precious life of Keely’s little boy, Christie’s grandson, and the joy he brings to their entire family.
