MINISTRY NEWS

April, 2022

EVERY gift YOU make to CHOICES counts. You save lives. You bring people to Jesus. You are here offering hope and help. We are all familiar with the verse, “[You] intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

“Abby” couldn’t speak the slightest bit of English. From the moment she walked through the door, she was aggravated and resolute in her decision to have an abortion. Married with three children, she said the emotional and financial strain was too much to bear.

When our nurse did her medical intake, she used a new translation service we recently secured. For some reason, that day, the service was not working well. There were pauses, prompts, and lots of confusion. Then, her ultrasound was inconclusive, and Abby told us, “I don’t want to wait. I just want to have an abortion!”

Her nurse could see Abby was getting more determined with each passing minute. Not only was it difficult to deal with the communication barrier, the translation service added to their frustration. When Abby left, her nurse broke down in tears. She felt like such a failure and described it as the worst patient care she had ever offered in her career.

We were pleasantly shocked when Abby returned for a second ultrasound one week later. She wanted to know if she was “required” to have an additional ultrasound. By no accident, we had a staff member who spoke her language that day. Abby shared that during her last ultrasound, while waiting on the malfunctioning translation service, she was forced to pause, and it was that delay that caused her to stop and think differently about her decision. Abby shared that she and her husband had chosen LIFE!

You may wonder what your partnership really means at CHOICES? It may feel insignificant that you cover the cost of that translation service. But as you can see, it is not insignificant! And it won’t be insignificant to Abby, her husband, and their family when she brings her baby home from the hospital. It is not insignificant when a Nurse, who runs the race for life every day, needs encouragement. And it is definitely not insignificant in the Kingdom when “what the enemy means for evil, God intends for good.”

We realize we have such little control over life and death! But we know The One who does, and we are committed to rolling out the red carpet for every single woman and man divinely appointed to walk through our doors. We don’t get to choose what the Lord will use to speak to these hearts, but we trust and get up every day and trust some more. Thank you for trusting with us because what is now being done is the saving of many lives!

Until there are 0…
